- Youri Tielemans wants Leicester City to carry their confidence into Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion (7:15pm GMT kick-off)
- The Foxes midfielder says his side are buoyed by consecutive wins over Sheffield United and AEK Athens
- City head into the weekend fourth in the Premier League table
In the space of five days, the Foxes recorded a late 2-1 victory at Sheffield United in the Premier League before a 2-0 success over AEK Athens meant they won UEFA Europa League Group G having already qualified with two games to spare.
Tielemans started in both triumphs, and ahead of welcoming Graham Potter’s Seagulls to King Power Stadium on Sunday, the Belgium international midfielder spoke of his side’s confidence following important back-to-back wins.
“We know how important the Premier League is and especially away games are very important,” Tielemans told LCFC TV ahead of the Brighton game.
“To win away to Sheffield United is very difficult to do. We knew it was going to be a very tough game.
“The fact that we won that game hopefully will keep that confidence for Brighton and go full force to win the game at home.”
The emotion was there for all to see in South Yorkshire in City’s latest Premier League outing after Jamie Vardy fired home with only injury time remaining to seal all three points.
When asked about how a last-minute winner lifts the mood of the camp, Tielemans explained: “It does a lot because we knew it was going to be a very difficult game.
“So, it was about us showing our mentality and our desire to win, especially in the end when you can grab the win like that. It feels very satisfying.
“You are at the training ground with a big smile, a bit more relaxed and a bit less pressure than when you lose a game, of course, because then you know that you really have to win and change the momentum. Hopefully, we can carry on in that form.”
