- Albrighton, 31, says he is continuing to embrace the busy 2020/21 season as City contest their third Premier League game in eight days

Following the midweek defeat by Everton at King Power Stadium, City have an opportunity to return to winning ways when they visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on José Mourinho’s in-form outfit.

Albrighton, who has featured 12 times for his side across all competitions this term, believes there is always an added incentive when City face Spurs following their 2015/16 Premier League title-winning campaign.

“Yes, [it's a] game we're looking forward to. Obviously, there's always a big contest between us and them,” he told LCFC TV before the match.

“There's always a little bit of an extra battle going on after the 2015/16 season, I feel like, so it's a good one to go into.

“Obviously, [we're] looking to put the other night's result to the back of our minds and get back on a positive track.”

The Foxes have already contested 20 fixtures in 2020/21, and while it has no doubt been a testing period, with injuries and suspensions to contend with, Albrighton is embracing the fast-paced nature of the season.

He said: “As much as there's been made of the tight schedule, in terms of when you lose a game, it's kind of a good thing because you've got two days before you're able to put it right again, and there's no time to dwell on stuff, you're focusing on the next match straight away.

“It doesn't stop, but I personally prefer it like this. There's no time to lose focus. You're fighting on all fronts, so it can only be positive. We'll get our rest at the end of the year and hopefully we can rest having achieved something good.

It's definitely a game that is going to be difficult, but we feel like we've got the personnel to be able to stop them and hurt them in other areas.

“This season's like no other. There are results happening that probably wouldn't normally happen. This game for us on Sunday is a fantastic opportunity. If we get three points there, then it puts us in a great position in the table.”

When asked about the attacking threats of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, who between them have made 34 goal contributions for Spurs in the Premier League already this season, Albrighton insisted that City have the ability to cope with their talent.

“They're fantastic, fantastic players, the both of them,” he added. “They've got good quality all over the pitch as well.

“So, it's definitely a game that is going to be difficult, but we feel like we've got the personnel to be able to stop them and hurt them in other areas.”
