Growing up in the Danish city of Odense, the young goalkeeper grew through the ranks to become the No.1 at his native side Brøndby IF as well collecting caps for Denmark’s youth international teams.
Hermansen began his youth career at Næsby Boldklub, who play in the Danish Third Division, where his skills between the sticks quickly became recognised, earning a move to the Superliga with Brøndby.
He was promoted to the first team prior to the 2019/20 season and made his professional debut in a Danish Cup match against Ledøje-Smørum Fodbold, keeping a clean sheet as his side claimed a 1-0 victory.
Mainly featuring sporadically in cup competitions as a second choice ‘keeper, Hermansen lifted the league title in the 2020/21 season – and this team accomplishment led to Marvin Schwäbe’s transfer to 1. FC Köln, paving the way for the youngster to showcase his potential.
Making 38 appearances in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign, including two in the UEFA Champions League, and five in the UEFA Europa League, the 23-year-old was heavily involved in achieving a fourth-placed finish for Drengene fra Vestengnen, or The Boys from Vestegnen.
Capturing the eyes, and hearts, of the Danish fanbase, Hermansen was awarded the Brøndby Player of the Year award for 2022.
While the Foxes’ new signing still awaits the chance to make his debut for the senior Denmark squad, he was called up for the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying matches in June of this year when they take on Northern Ireland and Slovenia, after making impressions during his time with you youth teams.
Representing his country all the way from the Under-16s, Hermansen was called up to the Denmark Under-21s for the first time in November 2020, but had to wait until September of the following year to make his debut in a 1-0 win over Kazakhstan in a 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification match.
Born this side of the millennium, Leicester’s latest addition boasts over 80 appearances at a domestic, European and international stage, and will join Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.
