It has been a busy few days on the international stage for LCFC Women's players, with six having already played during the current break, all over the globe. However, Belgium's most-capped player Cayman didn't have to travel far, as she took on the Lionesses on Filbert Way in the UEFA Women's Nations League.
An early goal from Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp was enough to settle the scoreline in a memorable night for the Club, who hosted the England women's side for the first time in over 40 years. Belgium sit third in League A Group 1, with four points from three games, and they welcome Sarina Weigman's side to Oud-Heverlee Leuven on Tuesday evening.
Also in action on Friday evening was forward Jutta Rantala, who started and played most of Finland's 3-0 win over Croatia, which sees them remain top of League 2 Group B with a maximum nine points. They will next meet the same side on Tuesday afternoon.
Leicester players Hannah Cain and Sophie Howard were on the receiving end of Nations League defeats, striker Cain playing the majority of Wales' 5-1 loss to Germany, where Liverpool's Ceri Holland scored the Dragons' only goal, while City's No.5 was beaten 4-0 by the Netherlands, leaving them bottom of England's group with one point.
Elsewhere, Australian defender Courtney Nevin played a full game for her country as they beat Iran 2-0 in a Women’s Olympic qualifying match in Perth. Ellie Carpenter opened the scoring in the first half before Sam Kerr rounded off the victory with a second-half strike. Nevin has another chance to play for Australia on Sunday morning against the Philippines.
The final Fox to have represented at international level is Ava Baker, who has played twice so far for the England Under-19s. First of all, when she started in a 2-0 win over Greece in an UEFA European’s Women’s Under-19 Championship qualifier, before coming on as a substitute to round off the scoring in a 6-1 victory over Wales, netting eight minutes into added time.
