The 18-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Leicester City, joining with international pedigree and a growing reputation as a creative player with an eye for goal.
Comfortable playing in the no.10 position or slightly further back as a no.8, he is known for lung-busting forward runs and an ability to win back possession when required, as demonstrated during his rise through the ranks at Chelsea.
Born in Kingston, Golding’s youth career began at AFC Wimbledon. Moving to the Blues at the age of 12, in 2018, his progress was tracked closely by England and the youngster was called up to play for the Young Lions at Under-16s and Under-17s level.
Captaining both age groups, he led his country into the UEFA European U17 Championships last summer, before also playing in the FIFA U17 World Cup later in 2023 – and has won the Val de Marne tournament. Now an England Under-18s international, Golding helped the team lift the 2024 U18 Pinatar Super Cup.
Back at club level, meanwhile, Golding became integral to Chelsea’s Under-18s team across the 2022/23 season, enabling him to make the step up into the Under-21s last term, after signing his first professional deal.
A senior Chelsea debut followed in January, coming on as a late substitute during their Emirates FA Cup Third Round victory over Preston North End at Stamford Bridge.
With his first team exploits providing a taste of what is to come, the emerging star continued his progression by making 21 Under-21s appearances and being part of the Under-18s side which won the U18 Premier League South.
