- Leicester City’s Development Squad are facing Northampton Town at Sixfields on Tuesday
- Jahmari Lindsay previewed the Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stage meeting
- The young Foxes beat Aston Villa in Premier League 2 last Friday to get back to winning ways
- That result has given the squad a boost ahead of taking on EFL opposition, the defender believes
The young Foxes travel to Sixfields Stadium for a 7pm GMT kick-off, requiring a positive result to keep hopes alive of progressing into the knockout stages of the Bristol Streets Motors Trophy.
Making seven Premier League 2 appearances so far this season, the full-back feels he is getting back into a rhythm of playing regular football and knows it will be a real test to come up against Football League opposition in the form of the Cobblers.
“I feel confident in myself,” the defender explained. “Last season, I was injured for half the season and this season, I just want to stay fit, keep playing game after game, and just keep my confidence up. The team are playing well and I'm happy to be a part of that.
“It's going to be a tough game against experienced players and it's just a learning game for us. We’re going to try and go out there and get the win and if we don't get the win, it's just another learning game for us.
“Seagrave is a wonderful place, but it's not 10,000 seats, with many people watching. It's just a good atmosphere, good experience to get playing in these type of stadiums.”
Coming into the game off the back of a 3-1 triumph at home to Aston Villa last Friday night, there is plenty of confidence within the camp, Lindsay says, having won the penalty that led to Henry Cartwright’s scoring a third from the spot.
The 20-year-old continued: “The lads went out there, everyone did well, scored three early, and we just kept it going until the end and we got to win.
“We know Aston Villa is a good side, they've got some good players, so we just needed everyone to keep on their toes, everyone to do their jobs and I think everyone did that and just stuck to the game plan. The game plan worked, and that's how we got a few goals.
“They're strong in the wide areas defensively, so our winger came in, and then we also go high, and it was a good touch by me to come inside, and obviously the defender dived in, I went past him and got the penalty.
“We had three losses on the bounce so it was just good to get the team going and get the win. In September confidence was through the roof and then when you lose three on the bounce, morale in the changing room and confidence drops a bit.
“It just happens in football. You're not going to win every single game, so it's just when you do lose, just keep doing the right stuff, keep doing what the manager is telling you, and then just go out there and do what you do best.”
