After a short injury lay off, which restricted his involvement to four substitute appearances during the first half of the 2023/24 season, Cannon introduced himself to the Foxes faithful in stunning fashion, scoring twice on full debut to help secure a 4-1 Sky Bet Championship success over Huddersfield Town at King Power Stadium on New Year's Day.
Another goal came Cannon's way a week later as the Foxes were 3-2 winners at Millwall in the Emirates FA Cup.
A product of Everton’s youth system, the 21-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club in March 2021 and made his senior Toffees debut in a Carabao Cup clash at Bournemouth in November 2022.
He made his Premier League bow during the same month, also against the Cherries, before moving on loan to Preston North End in January 2023.
His spell at Deepdale was a fruitful one as he found the net eight times in 20 league appearances for Ryan Lowe’s side.
Internationally, he has represented Republic of Ireland at youth level, and most recently earned a first call-up to the Under-21s team in March 2023, making his debut in a friendly against Iceland.
Helping Leicester to make an immediate return to the Premier League, with 17 appearances in all across the season, Cannon will be hoping to kick on in 2024/25, back in the top flight.
