In January 2022, Marçal was rewarded for his fine form for the Club's Development Squad with a maiden senior Leicester City senior appearance. A half-time substitute in that 4-1 Emirates FA Cup victory at King Power Stadium, it's been a rapid rise for Marçal, who made his debut for City's Under-18s in February 2020 - his sole U18 Premier League appearance of the campaign.
The following season, the winger became a regular for the Under-18s side, scoring and assisting once in 16 league games, while also hitting three goals in three FA Youth Cup games. That form earned him call-ups to the Development Squad on four occasions, debuting for the Under-21s in September 2020.
In 2021/22, the Portugal youth international, who has four Under-20 caps to his name, starred for the Club's Development Squad, hitting six goals in 24 PL2 matches, as well as twice appearing in the Papa Johns Trophy, alongside his first-team debut. The midfielder was also named on the bench for three European fixtures.
The Portuguese star, who operates in the middle of the park or from a wide position, scored several important goals, including three late winners in Premier League 2 Division 1 victories over West Ham United (twice) and Brighton & Hove Albion.
His importance to the Under-21s only heightened across 2022/23, with regular PL2 starts, earning a place in the Premier League matchday squad on two occasions. He remains involved with the senior squad in the new season.
A prominent feature at the start of the 2023/24 campaign, Marçal's first goal for the Club followed his full debut and was a scorcher in a 2-1 home win over Cardiff City in August.
Playing a further six times in the First Team, contributing to City being crowned Championship champions, the attacker also picked up further minutes in PL2 and the EFL Trophy for the Under-21s, after signing a new contract in December that extended his stay with the Football Club until the summer of 2026.
