- The Young Lions started their UEFA U21 EURO campaign with a 2-1 defeat by France in Cesena
- Academy graduate Choudhury was dismissed in the second half following a VAR decision
- Foxes team-mates Alex Pascanu (Romania) and Filip Benković (Croatia) went head-to-head
James Maddison, Demarai Gray and Hamza Choudhury started for England, while Harvey Barnes was an unused substitute, in a fraught 2-1 defeat by France in Cesena, Italy.
While Dean Henderson was called upon to save a penalty from Moussa Dembélé in the first half, the Manchester United shot-stopper had to face another in the second period.
Before then, Aidy Boothroyd's youngsters took the lead in sensational fashion on 54 minutes as Manchester City's Phil Foden ran through the defence and finished smartly.

Maddison congratulates Phil Foden on opening his account for England in Italy.
In the 66th minute, however, Choudhury was dismissed following a VAR decision for a challenge on Jonathan Bamba and France had another chance from 12 yards. Houssem Aouar, though, hit the post.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, England remained ahead until the latter stages, but Nanitamo Ikoné's 89th-minute strike and an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal handed France three points.
Earlier in the day, also in Group C, defensive duo Alex Pascanu, representing Romania, and Filip Benković, of Croatia, went head-to-head in Serravalle, San Marino.
Harvey Barnes
Barnes must wait a while longer for the chance to represent England's youngsters.
It was Pascanu's Romanian outfit who came out on top in a 4-1 success at San Marino Stadium in which both Foxes defenders played the full 90 minutes.
George Pușcaș converted an 11th-minute penalty after Benković was punished for a handball in the area, while Ianis Hagi doubled Romania's lead three minutes later.
After Nikola Vlašić halved that deficit for Croatia in the 18th minute, Tudor Băluță restored it after the hour-mark before Adrian Petre made sure of the points in the final moments.
