The Round-Up: Important Results For City's First Team & Under-23s

While the Under-18s were not in action and Leicester City Women's FA Cup home tie with Reading was postponed, the Club's first team and Development Squad enjoyed profitable run outs.

Brendan Rodgers' seniors held out for a valuable point at Wolverhampton Wanderers, playing the final 14 minutes with 10 men, while the Under-23s sealed a 3-2 success over Tottenham Hotspur.

Leicester City took their 2019/20 points tally up to 50 on Friday evening with a 0-0 stalemate at Wolves following a two-week winter break from action.

Brendan Rodgers fielded the same XI which featured in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, as Jamie Vardy made his 200th Premier League appearance and Harvey Barnes played his 50th game for the Football Club.

While Youri Tielemans' deflected effort flew wide of Rui Patrício's net and the Portuguese saved Çağlar Söyüncü's header, there was drama at the other end at Molineux.

Wolves thought they were ahead before the break when Willy Boly headed past Kasper Schmeichel, but VAR spotted a marginal offside in the build-up, following a short corner routine. 

Following a second-half foul on Leander Dendoncker, Hamza Choudhury became the first Foxes player to see red this season, earning a second booking with 14 minutes to play.

As a result, City had to dig deep to withstand pressure from Nuno Espírito Santo's home side, with Raúl Jiménez heading wide and Adama Traoré being denied by Schmeichel to earn Leicester a point.

Meanwhile, also on Friday evening, Leicester City's Development Squad temporarily climbed to the top of Premier League 2 Division 1 with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Tottenham at Holmes Park.

Sam Hughes and Khanya Leshabela returned to a starting XI which also included experienced midfielder Matty James following the Leasing.com Trophy Quarter-Final defeat by Newport County.

While the Foxes had an early effort from George Hirst disallowed for handball, it was Spurs who went in front against the run of play through Dilan Markanday on 19 minutes in Whetstone.

City hit back, though, with Hirst first converting a penalty before Callum Wright nodded the hosts in front to send Leicester in at the break holding a slender 2-1 advantage.

The visitors were level midway through the second period, courtesy of an excellent strike from Jubril Okedina, although it merely sparked City's youngsters back into life in the latter stages.

Up stepped Hirst to win it for the Under-23s, taking down a high ball, before turning on the spot and sending his side level on points with Chelsea, who later went three clear with a win at Arsenal.
