The Foxes headed into the break 1-0 up thanks to Jamie Vardy’s 23rd Premier League goal of 2019/20, but a quick-fire double saw Bournemouth turn the game on its head.
Çağlar Söyüncü was dismissed for kicking out at Callum Wilson following Bournemouth's second strike, and then the Cherries added another two goals to the scoreline to complete the win.
Frustration for Leicester
Vitality Stadium
VAR confirms Çağlar Söyüncü's red card against the Cherries.
Chris Powell said: “It was a strange first goal – a miskick from Kasper Schmeichel and then Wilfred Ndidi produced the foul. It’s frustrating because Leicester conceded almost straight after the first. It’s a tough day for everyone at Leicester City.”
A swing in momentum
Youri Tielemans
Youri Tielemans puts pressure on Bournemouth substitute Steve Cook.
Gerry Taggart said: “We had so much control in the first half of the game, and then lost that in the second half. No matter what the changes were by the other team, you wouldn’t expect the momentum to swing that much in 45 minutes.”
The game turned in their favour
Jonny Evans
Jonny Evans had an opportunity to double City's lead in first half stoppage time, but couldn't connect with Christian Fuchs' delivery.
Steve Walsh said: “It was there for the taking. If you don’t take your chances, you’re in danger. The game turned in Bournemouth’s favour and it’s unusual to see the errors like we did tonight. They were costly in the end.”
Credit to Bournemouth
Harvey Barnes
Harvey Barnes rides a challenge at Vitality Stadium.
Chris Powell: “You have to give credit to Bournemouth. They made changes, and all of a sudden, they asked questions that Leicester don’t always get. They got their break, and it was fortunate, but then it’s difficult to stop their momentum.”
Focus on Thursday
Brendan Rodgers
Northern Irishman Rodgers watches on from the sidelines.
Gerry Taggart said: “It’s important we’re positive and look forward to Thursday night against Sheffield United. It’s a big game. Forget about Manchester United at the end of the season, this is a potential six-pointer coming up on Thursday night.”
