Who's in contention to play?

Jamie Vardy
Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy is in contention to return to City's squad for the weekend's fixture after missing Thursday's UEFA Europa League game.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said: "Slim (Islam Slimani) will come back into the squad. Demarai [Gray] will be back and then we’ll see where Jamie [Vardy] is at. He’ll train with the squad on Friday.

"We felt he would miss two games, so he’s worked well with the medical team over the course of the week. Hopefully, he comes through that over the next 48 hours and is available for the squad."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told arsenal.com: "We have to assess a few players today (Friday). We have some knocks and niggles from last night which is normal and after a long flight as well.

"Let's see how everybody is today. They [Dani Ceballos and Willian] haven't trained with us yet, so we'll have to see how they react in the next couple of days."

Arsenal came out on top when they faced City in the Carabao Cup last month.

Leicester welcomed the Gunners to King Power Stadium for a Carabao Cup third round tie on 23 September 2020, with the visitors progressing into the next round thanks to a 2-0 win. An own goal from Christian Fuchs and Eddie Nketiah's late second sealed victory for the away side.

The two sides' last meeting in the Premier League, however, was in July 2020 when Jamie Vardy's 84th minute equaliser cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's opener and ensured City took a point home from north London.

Arsenal had been reduced to 10 men when Nketiah was sent off 15 minutes from time and the Foxes capitalised on their numerical advantage to level the match.
