A Massive Three Points, Says Thomas
- Leicester City went second in the Premier League after Monday's 4-1 win at Leeds United
- Academy graduate Luke Thomas was making his maiden 2020/21 start in the Premier League
- It followed an appearance from the bench in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday
- Thomas says City can be proud of their performance against Marcelo Bielsa's side
Goals from Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy, plus a brace from Youri Tielemans, registered City's fifth Premier League win in seven games, propelling them up to second in the table.
Despite challenging weather conditions and a second-half fightback from Marcelo Bielsa's home side, Thomas says Leicester stuck to the task to seal a 'massive' three points in Yorkshire.
"It was a really big three points away from home," the 19-year-old told LCFC TV. "Obviously, we've started off the season really well, with four wins from four away from home.
"Getting the three points away from home is always going to be hard. I've never really played in a game like that, to be honest.
"It was literally one vs. one all over the park, but the lads dealt with it really well and I thought it was a massive three points.
"It was a hard pitch to play on. As the game went on, it got a bit more wet obviously, the weather wasn't great tonight. But it worked well for us and we came away with three points.
"With them scoring just after half-time, it puts a lot of pressure on us. But I felt like we've dealt with it really well, came back, got to 3-1, and then we've gone on to get another goal, so it's massive."
After making his first Premier League start of the season at Elland Road, four days following a UEFA Europa League bow at AEK Athens, Thomas is grateful for the experienced presence of Christian Fuchs.
Jamie Vardy vs. Leeds United
The third of four goals away at Leeds United in the Premier League.
Starring alongside Fuchs across a fluid back-three, with two wing-backs, Thomas and his defensive colleagues effectively marshalled a Leeds team renowned for their attacking prowess.
"Obviously he's got so much experience in the game and he supports me throughout the whole thing," Thomas added. "It's always good to have a player like him behind me.
"That was a special moment for me and my family (playing Europe). "Obviously going to Greece and especially coming back with three points, it was always a positive.
"Making my [European] debut is always going to be good as well. Hopefully get much game time as I can. I try my best every single time I get the chance and hopefully the manager will give me the chance."
