Rodgers: Analyse & Be Better

It is down to Leicester City to dissect their defeat by Everton and improve their performance ahead of Sunday’s fixture at Tottenham Hotspur, says manager Brendan Rodgers.

Efforts from Richarlison and Mason Holgate – despite chances for Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy – meant Carlo Ancelotti’s side returned to Merseyside with three Premier League points on Wednesday.

Northern Irishman Rodgers was naturally frustrated with the result, but knows his side must correct their mistakes when they travel to the capital to take on José Mourinho’s men this weekend.

“We've had a good few performances, good results, our last three,” Rodgers told LCFC TV following Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Everton.

“This is disappointing for us. So, we have to go away and analyse, and look to be better in our next game.”

Rodgers was pleased with the displays of Wesley Fofana and Wilfred Ndidi, who dealt well with the threat of the Premier League’s top scorer, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

“Both centre-halves I thought were outstanding,” Rodgers said of his centre-back pairing.

“Wilfred Ndidi, for someone who plays in midfield, to play there, and how they dealt with [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin, I thought they were exceptional.

Jonny [Evans] comes back into the squad. Hopefully we get Timothy Castagne available as well, and yes, we look to see if we can get a result.

“So, yes, both the centre-halves were very good.”

Rodgers will be able to welcome back Northern Ireland international centre-back Jonny Evans for Sunday’s match against Tottenham, while he is hopeful that full-back Timothy Castagne can also play a role following a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since late October.

"It's a big game," he added. "Jonny [Evans] comes back into the squad. Hopefully we get Timothy Castagne available as well, and yes, we look to see if we can get a result."
