Justin Lauds Team Performance

The England youth international, like many of his Foxes team-mates, delivered a glittering yet gutsy display against José Mourinho’s side to claim three points from one of the fixtures of the weekend.

Jamie Vardy’s first-half penalty and Toby Alderweireld’s own goal sealed Leicester’s sixth away win of the 2020/21 Premier League season and in turn meant they’ll be second in the division on Christmas Day.

“It was an amazing team performance from us,” Justin told LCFC TV. “I think we were tactically excellent in the game and we showed two sides of us in this game.

“We also sat in in the second half, and in the first half we controlled more of the possession. That’s something that we’ll look to do going forward.

“It’s not the so-called ‘big games’ that we struggle in, it’s more the times we lack concentration and think: ‘It’s not a massive game’, whereas every game is a big game in the Premier League and any team on their day can hurt you.

“It was obviously a great performance from the defence and the guys in front of the defence. We all kept solid in the second half and kept together, and that’s why we kept a clean sheet.”

Justin’s incredible dynamism was once again on show in the capital, with his recovery runs and interceptions matching up to his attacking threat – something that looked to have produced a second goal for City, albeit for VAR’s intervention.

The City No.2’s pin-point ball over the Spurs defence was controlled by James Maddison, who took a touch before slotting past Hugo Lloris, only for his goal to be chalked off for offside against the attacking midfielder in the build-up.

“It would have been unbelievable to get an assist, and it was a great goal from him, but obviously the lines (VAR) didn’t accept it,” he said. “It’s something that we’ve been working on, and hopefully we can do it in other games.”

City’s return to winning ways came from a desire to recover from their midweek defeat by Everton, and with Manchester United up next on Boxing Day (12:30pm GMT kick-off), Justin wants his side to improve their Premier League form at King Power Stadium.

He added: “It’s something that the gaffer says – don’t get too high when we win and don’t get too low when we lose. It’s something we’ve been working on, our bouncebackability, and we proved it today. Hopefully we can keep this run going forward.

“It’s a massive game. We played them last game of the season last year and lost out, and hopefully, we can make amends this year.”
