Micky Adams enjoyed the final victory of a generally successful spell in charge of Leicester City as the Foxes ran out as 3-2 victors over the Blades in the Championship on 14 September, 2004
After masterminding the Club's promotion in 2002/03 in extremely testing circumstances, Adams was unable to prevent the Foxes from narrowly suffering relegation from the Premier League.
Nevertheless, City went into 2004/05 as favourites to make an immediate return to the top flight after the summer signings of Dion Dublin, Martin Keown and David Connolly among many others.
By the time Sheffield United visited Filbert Way in September, though, Leicester had suffered three defeats and won just twice in their opening seven outings in the second tier of English football.
After just eight minutes against Neil Warnock's visitors, they were ahead as Kevin Pressman's long kick was headed on by Dublin and into the path of James Scowcroft to convert a simple finish.
Their first goal of the season on home soil was followed in the 29th minute as Jordan Stewart's corner was nodded over the line by former Newcastle United man Nikos Dabizas. While questions remained over who had the final touch, the Greece defender was awarded the goal which made it 2-0.
It was a lead Leicester would retain until the interval before, on 52 minutes, Phil Jagielka's misguided clearance landed to Jason Wilcox to slam the ball beyond Paddy Kenny in the Blades' net.
Chris Morgan's header got one back for the visitors with 15 minutes to go before Jonathan Forte bundled it home with six remaining, but the Foxes ultimately held out for a morale-boosting three points.
"The win was never in doubt was it?" joked Adams at full-time. "A lot of people will look at the last 10 minutes of the game and focus on that but that would be unfair. For the 80 minutes prior to that, I thought we put in an excellent performance.
"Overall, it was a good performance from us and we got that first home win of the season which comes as a big relief."
However, in October, after successive defeats by Preston North End in league and cup, Adams would resign as Leicester City manager.
