Three Foxes Come Face-To-Face In Belgium
- Youri Tielemans and Danny Ward both started during Belgium's 3-1 win over Wales in Leuven
- Timothy Castagne came off the bench late on, while Dennis Praet was an unused substitute
- Çağlar Söyüncü played 90 minutes in Turkey's 4-2 win over Netherlands in Istanbul
Both Tielemans and Ward started in Leuven, and it was a dream start for the latter’s nation as Harry Wilson put Wales ahead after just 10 minutes.
However, Belgium turned the game on its head via goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Thorgan Hazard, before Romelu Lukaku added another from the spot, and then Timothy Castagne came off the bench with seven minutes remaining.
Danny Ward
Danny Ward made his 11th appearance for Wales during Wednesday's 3-1 defeat by Belgium.
The success sees Roberto Martínez’s side begin their Group E campaign with three points in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying following a game in which Dennis Praet was an unused substitute.
Belgium next face Czech Republic in Prague on Saturday, while Ward and Wales head to Cardiff for an international friendly with Mexico on the same day.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, defender Çağlar Söyüncü played from start to finish in Turkey’s 4-2 victory over Netherlands in their 2022 FIFA World Cup Group G opener at at Atatürk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul.
Çağlar Söyüncü
Çağlar Söyüncü challenges Netherlands attacker Memphis Depay for the ball in Istanbul.
A superb hat-trick from Lille’s Burak Yılmaz - which included a stunning free-kick for his third - and a second-half effort from AC Milan midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu ensured the Crescent-Stars got their qualification campaign off to a fine start, despite efforts from Davy Klaassen and Luuk de Jong for the visitors.
In three days’ time, Söyüncü’s men will head to Málaga’s La Rosaleda Stadium to face Norway, and then return to Turkey to take on Latvia on Tuesday night to round off the first of three Group G qualifiers.
A further four Foxes could be in action tomorrow night, so be sure to tune back into LCFC.com to see how they have progressed on the international stage.
