Thomas Proud After Making History With City

- A brace of Jamie Vardy penalties were not enough for the Foxes
The Foxes equalled their second-highest finish in the Premier League, and also lifted their maiden Emirates FA Cup to qualify for a European campaign in back-to-back seasons for the first time.
While naturally disappointed to not finish in the top four, Thomas says City can hold their heads high after a memorable season.
He told LCFC TV: “We're really proud of ourselves, it's been such an emotional season in a way. We came away with the FA Cup, and you can't really complain, can you? It's been a very good season, personally, for myself and for the team.
“I feel it's obviously going to be more disappointing because Aston Villa have obviously beat Chelsea, so it's hard to take, but we'll bounce back and we'll come back stronger next season.
“Everyone’s going to be disappointed today, but when we look back at it in a couple of days, a couple of weeks, we'll realise what we have actually done this season. We've made history for the Club, winning the FA Cup. We've not done that for how long.
“So, it's been a very positive season in a way, for us, we'll come back next season. Yes, we're in the Europa League, but it's still a great competition to go into. We'll come back stronger next year in that than we did this year, so it's been positive.”
Assessing the game, Thomas felt the Foxes were unfortunate to lose the match after conceding twice on the counter-attack late on.
“We started the game really bright,” he said. “We've gone 1-0 up with a piece of class from Vards (Jamie Vardy) - he knows how to win a penalty, I'll tell you that. Then, it's a matter of time when it's gone to 2-2 and it's a hard one to bring back in the last 20 minutes.
“We've had to go out there and get a goal. But it's not happened for us and they've countered us a couple of times scored, so it's a really hard one to take.
“Like I said, we'll bounce back next season, and we'll be ready even more. We'll have more desire to go out there and get where we want to get.”
Thomas says City will now take the time to reflect on how they have fared this term, and then will return to the Club in preparation for the 2021/22 season.
“We'll have a bit of rest, a couple of weeks to go on our holidays and stuff, but then we'll get straight back on it and get fit for when we come back next season,” he added.
“We'll be ready next season, even more than we were this season. So, hopefully we get to where we want to get next season.”
