With the nation set to fall silent on Monday 11 November to remember and honour service men and women past and present - supporting the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal - the Club's Academy have sought to educate and inform young players of the First World War.

The Caribbean Court and Academy players created artwork together.
The Christmas truce is one of the most well-known events of the War. Taking place on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in 1914, it saw British and German soldiers lay down their weapons to sing carols, exchange gifts, and play games of football in no man’s land.
The truce involved thousands of soldiers and happened along the battle lines around Ypres. For that day, hostilities were ceased.

The Under-12s took part in the annual Premier League Truce Project, with this year’s theme centred around the Pals Battalion, learning the importance of taking on board the key elements within the project to apply into their everyday lives.
With education at the heart of the initiative, designed to remember events from the First World War, City’s U12s have been involved in a range of truce-themed activities to learn more about the event and why it is still recalled to this day.
During the event in Seagrave, they took part in an artistic workshop, with the Caribbean Court invited to the community morning, providing an opportunity for both players and participants alike to express their creativity by producing artwork that connected with the themes of the project, including the historical significance behind Remembrance Sunday and the 1914 truce.
