Brougham’s Excitement After Foxes Move
- Defender Georgia Brougham became the next new face through the door as she signed for LCFC Women
- The centre-back previously played for Manchester City, Everton and Birmingham City in the WSL
- The facilities at Belvoir Drive and the Club’s ambition were key influences in her decision to move
- Brougham, 25, was also impressed with how the Foxes managed to secure promotion from the second tier
The Manchester City academy graduate joined up with her new team-mates at Belvoir Drive after choosing Leicester as her next destination, bringing a wealth of top-flight experience.
Speaking to LCFC TV, the 25-year-old discussed the main factors behind her decision to sign for the Foxes, ahead of the Club’s maiden campaign in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
“I'm delighted to be here,” Stockport-born Brougham stated in her first City interview. “Obviously, it's a great club, I've heard very good things about it and I just can't wait to get started.
I think it's probably the best facility a women's team could have so to get the privilege to train on these pitches every single day, it can only develop you as a player, so I'm excited.

“When I came down and spoke to Jonathan [Morgan], and seeing the facilities and then the ambition that he spoke about, what they want to do with the women's team. It was just a no brainer.
“It was something that I couldn't wait to be a part of. I think it's probably the best facility a women's team could have so to get the privilege to train on these pitches every single day, it can only develop you as a player, so I'm excited.”
The defender, who primarily plays at centre-back, spent last season on loan at Birmingham City as the Blues finished 11th in the division, having previously helped Everton to gain promotion to the top division alongside goalkeeper Kirstie Levell.
“I know the league, I've played in it for many years now and hopefully I can bring that experience to this team. I like to get the ball down and play to start attacks, I'd like to see myself as a ball-playing centre-back, so hopefully I can bring that to the team.

Brougham was on loan at Birmingham City in the WSL during the 2020/21 campaign.
“I played with some of the girls, and I've just met some of the girls, so hopefully it'll make us gel quicker and we'll hit the ground running.
“I think people underestimate the Championship. Obviously, I've played in that league before, and it is a hard league to come out of.
“I was following Leicester's journey throughout last season and, yes, it's really impressive and that's obviously made my decision a lot easier to come here as well, knowing how well they did.”
