Everything You Need To Know For Saturday's Community Shield Clash

The 2020/21 FA Cup holders and Premier League winners will play out the traditional season curtain-raiser, with Brendan Rodgers looking to add another trophy to the Club’s collection.

The occasion beneath Wembley’s famous arch will be City’s third appearance in the competition, as they bid to claim the trophy for the second time after beating Liverpool in the 1971 edition.

Before the Foxes head to the national stadium this weekend, here’s everything you need to know about the clash…

Supporters based in the United Kingdom can watch the action unfold on ITV (starting at 4:30pm).

Club legend Matt Elliott will form part of the commentary team at Saturday's game.

Leicester City supporters can tune-in to live and free coverage of the encounter with the Citizens on LCFC TV and LCFC Radio.

Matchday Live begins at 3:45pm on Saturday with Foxes League Cup winner Gerry Taggart and Championship winner Dean Hammond joining presenter Dan Bates for 90 minutes of pre-match debate.

As well as taking you through all of the main talking points ahead of kick-off, we'll also bring you the all-important team news from Wembley and interviews with members of City’s dressing room.

Then, from approximately 5:05pm, live radio commentary begins with James Fielden and another Leicester League Cup winner, Matt Elliott, in position to deliver analysis of all the action as it happens.

Following full-time, Taggart and Elliott - dialling in from the press box - will reflect on the game during a further 30 minutes of post-match chat, providing over four hours of live broadcast across the Club’s in-house station.

What's the ticket news?

The Blue Army can see the Foxes in action at Wembley for the first time since May's Emirates FA Cup Final.

The Foxes have received an allocation of 26,639 tickets for the fixture, including 100 wheelchair spaces, with a full capacity crowd permitted inside Wembley on the day. The sales window for tickets has now closed.

Entry is subject to each supporter providing one of the below upon arrival:

- Proof of a negative lateral flow test (which can be taken at home) within the last 48 hours via text message, email or via the NHS COVID Pass on the NHS app (supporters aged over 11), or;
- Proof of full vaccination at least 14 days prior to the match via COVID-19 certification through the NHS Covid Pass on the NHS App or the English vaccination letter (supporters aged over-18 only)

The LFD test must be taken no more than 48 hours before entry to Wembley Stadium. For clarity, the LFD test can take place from 2:15pm onwards on Thursday 5 August. Click HERE for more information on entry requirements. 

The Blue Army will also be able to access BOXPARK Wembley, LCFC’s official fanpark, which houses three huge bars and over 20 different food vendors, while live entertainment, including a DJ, will be provided on the day.

Referee Paul Tierney will take charge of Saturday's clash with Manchester City.

Paul Tierney is set to be the man in the middle for the FA Community Shield at Wembley, assisted by Ian Hussin and Neil Davies, with Peter Bankes appointed as the fourth official. Nick Hopton is the reserve assistant referee, with Darren England and Dan Robathan acting as the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) and assistant VAR respectively.

Back in September 2020, a Jamie Vardy hat-trick, along with goals by James Maddison and Youri Tielemans, secured a thrilling 5-2 Premier League win for the Foxes over the Citizens at Etihad Stadium.
