LCFC Women Face Watford In Pre-Season Encounter
The fixture against the newly promoted FA Women’s Championship side was the Foxes’ sixth outing of the pre-season schedule, ensuring the players are able to sharpen up ahead of the new campaign by getting further minutes under their belts.
It followed on from Friday’s match away to another second-tier outfit, Coventry United Ladies and Wednesday’s contest with Birmingham City Women, ending a busy week of football as the countdown to 2021/22 continues.
Sheffield United Women and Liverpool Women also provided fitness tests at LCFC Women's training ground earlier in pre-season, meanwhile, as had WSL champions Chelsea Women.
All smiles on the pitch during the pre-season exercise against the Hornets at Belvoir Drive.
Manager Jonathan Morgan spoke after full-time about the benefits of getting more game-time for the players across the summer, in order to be in the best shape possible for the beginning of the campaign.
He told LCFC.com: “We're very pleased with today. We had our own parameters that we set before the game and they definitely came out.
"We decided to put three games in this week so the girls could all equally get one 90 minutes. We felt we just needed that for sharpness. It was invaluable minutes for all of the girls."
Aston Villa Women will provide the Foxes' first encounter in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Saturday 4 September, in a 12:30pm BST kick-off at Banks’s Stadium in Walsall.
