City host Manchester United at King Power Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off) following last weekend’s narrow defeat at Aston Villa in the team’s historic maiden WSL fixture.
Firstly reflecting on that day, the forward was pleased with many aspects of how the visitors performed, but know they must now put that game behind them and shift all focus to facing United.
“We were really unfortunate to come away with the loss,” Cain, who was making her first top-flight appearance since 2020, commented to LCFC TV. “You could see from our performance that we strongly dominated a lot of the game.
LCFC Women Prepare For WSL Home Debut
City continue to lay the groundwork for Sunday's visit of Manchester United in their maiden Barclays FA Women's Super League fixture at King Power Stadium.
“So, we were really disappointed but we’ve reviewed the game, reflected on it and we’ve put it behind us. Now we’re just ready to go again next week.
“We’ve got players who haven’t played in this league before, so they made their WSL debuts, which is a massive achievement.
“Personally, for me, I didn’t think too much about the occasion. It was just another game we were going to win. It was amazing to get back on the pitch with everything that’s happened, COVID, getting the fans back in. It was surreal.”
Not only will Sunday present Leicester City’s opening home match in the top-flight, it will also be their first taste of fans being present on Filbert Way.
They’ve got world class players, it’s a world class club. But we go into every game believing we can take the three points and this is no different.

For Cain, it will be a chance for both players and supporters alike to create lasting memories and believes the crowd will make a real difference during what will be a tough encounter against one of the division’s top sides.
“What an amazing event that is going to be,” the 22-year-old beamed. “Obviously, with fans back in the stadium too, we're hoping that we’re going to get a lot of people there and our fans will be loud for us.
“It’s a massive boost when you’ve got the crowd behind you and they are willing you on to do well. Sometimes, if you’re not performing well or things aren’t going right, they can be the extra man that helps you come out of that little rut or minute in the game. We’re really looking forward to it.”
Tackling the North West based outfit, who finished fourth in the WSL for the second successive season in 2020/21, provides no easy task for Leicester, especially after Sunday’s visitors picked up an opening day victory on matchday one.
An Amazing Occasion Awaits, Says Cain
LCFC TV caught up with forward Hannah Cain ahead of LCFC Women's King Power Stadium clash with Manchester United in the WSL.
But Cain is confident that the squad will take heart from their Vitality Women’s FA Cup Fifth Round success over the Red Devils in May and now have two former United players in their ranks following the signings of Abbie McManus and Jess Sigsworth.
The former Everton attacker added: “Against Manchester United last time round we beat them in the cup and we were the underdogs - we probably still are.
“They’ve got world class players, it’s a world class club. But we go into every game believing we can take the three points and this is no different.
“You can see the facilities (at Belvoir Drive) are absolutely amazing and it’s still a bit unreal. The new girls that have come in have adapted to their surroundings really quick and we’re very together as a squad which is also massive too.”
Tickets for the clash are available on general sale, here, while LCFC Women Season Tickets can also be purchased, here.
