Young Foxes Up To Second In U18 PL South With Arsenal Success

Leicester City's Under-18s got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal at LCFC Training Ground which elevates them to second in the U18 Premier League South standings.

A three-game winning run - which included triumphs over Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle United - came to a close in their second meeting with the Saints, in the Premier League Cup group stage, last time out. Arsenal, meanwhile, had not suffered a loss all season before arriving in Seagrave.

The young Foxes went ahead just after the half-hour mark when Kian Pennant confidently converted a spot-kick at the Club's training ground, although the visitors from north London hit back almost immediately, through Marcelo Flores. Both sides, as a result, went in level at the interval.

City, though, were creating the better chances in north Leicestershire and they got their due rewards in the 69th minute as opening goalscorer Pennant teed up Chris Popov to restore their advantage. Leicester's youngsters would ultimately hold out to secure their fifth win in seven so far in the league.

It sees them climb to second in the U18 PL South table, one point adrift of leaders Fulham, ahead of hosting the Cottagers at LCFC Training Ground next Saturday (12pm BST kick-off).
