Rodgers' Fitness Update On Tielemans, Justin & Maddison
- Brendan Rodgers provides a fitness update ahead of Sunday's visit to Aston Villa
- Leicester City are looking to go a fourth game unbeaten in all competitions
- Youri Tielemans (calf) and James Justin (ACL) are progressing well but unlikely to feature
- James Maddison (glute) is expected to be fit for the trip to Birmingham
The Foxes face Steven Gerrard's men at Villa Park in a 4:30pm kick-off on Sunday hoping to extend their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions after successive victories over Legia Warsaw and Watford were followed by a draw at Southampton on Wednesday.
Tielemans (calf) has been absent for Leicester since the 1-1 draw at Leeds United on 7 November, while Justin is continuing his rehabilitation after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury back in February. Both are progressing well, Rodgers says, but are unlikely to feature in Birmingham.
"Youri’s back in training," the Northern Irishman told the media at LCFC Training Ground in Seagrave on Friday afternoon. "James Justin is back in training. It might be too soon at the weekend, but both boys are back in with the training squad."
Foxes & Saints Trade Blows In Southampton
Leicester City twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
James Maddison, on the other hand, was an instrumental figure for City at St. Mary's Stadium on Wednesday as he scored in his third consecutive game. The 25-year-old required treatment on the field against Southampton, but Rodgers doesn't anticipate to be without him on Sunday.
The Foxes manager also discussed the fixture schedule as his side prepare for eight games yet to come in December.
"He's just recovering from that," he added. "It was more an issue with his glute, but that seems fine and okay, so he will be ready for the game. We’ve played about 22 games up until now. It’s quite a number of games in this period, but that’s what success bring you.
"You want to go as far as you can in competitions. It can be challenge for a squad like us, but we want that. Hopefully we can get a few players back over this next few weeks and they will give us a boost."
