Castagne Expresses Chelsea Frustrations
- Leicester City were beaten 2-1 by 10-man Chelsea on Saturday
- Harvey Barnes scored for the Foxes at Stamford Bridge
- Raheem Sterling’s double won the game for the hosts
- Timothy Castagne gave his post-match thoughts to LCFC TV
The Foxes fell to a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a quick-fire Raheem Sterling double shortly after the interval, following Conor Gallagher’s red card, with Harvey Barnes’ effort halving the deficit but ultimately proving to be a consolation in the capital.
Castagne came away immensely frustrated with what was Leicester’s third consecutive Premier League defeat, following losses against Southampton and away at Arsenal, vocalising the team’s disappointment in his post-match interview.
“We did a pretty good first half and then we didn’t stop working second half,” the Belgian told LCFC TV, assessing the game. “Then we concede a goal straight away (after half-time), so that hit us a bit.

The Academy graduate netted for Leicester City in their 2-1 loss away to Chelsea.
“I think we had some chances late on, but if you give away two goals against 10 men, you are shooting yourself in the foot. That’s what happened and then we are just chasing. In the end we couldn’t get the equaliser.
“It happens in games, and you need to adapt. It’s not helping or hindering, it’s just that we need to capitalise on those moments, and we didn’t do that today, so we have to be better.”
The visitors had Thomas Tuchel’s side pinned back as the half wore on, creating plenty of chances from open play – including for Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Pérez - and set plays, but were unable to force the ball home.
We haven’t had the start to the season that we wanted and today was again a bit like the first games when we were good and then we give away cheap goals.

Echoing the thoughts of City’s manager, the full-back admitted that it is far from ideal to be placed 19th in the league standings at this early stage of the campaign but is confident that things will start to turn around sooner rather than later.
The 27-year-old explained: “He (Brendan Rodgers) knows it’s tough for us because we haven’t had the start to the season that we wanted and today was again a bit like the first games when we were good in the games and then we give away cheap goals and we lose the result that we want. It’s tough at the moment.
“I think it’s going to come. We just can’t panic because sometimes - it didn’t happen today - but I feel in some of the other games we desperately want the win, so we start to panic, we stop playing our game and we lose the result. We need to keep working, keep playing our game.”
