The 31-year-old arrived at Belvoir Drive last week, looking around the facilities, having medical and fitness tests, before sitting down with LCFC TV for her first interview as a Leicester City player.

Discussing her reasons for wanting to join the Foxes, Vance referenced the journey the team have enjoyed in recent years, gaining promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League, as a factor in her feeling it was the right place to continue her career.

“It feels great,” the defender said. “I think it all happened really fast, so I don’t think I’ve had a minute to think but here we are! I’m happy to be here and buzzing to get started. I’m just going to jump in with two feet.

From the Euros, women’s football is only on the up and I think there’s going to be massive growth in the support this season and hopefully we can get more fans at the games.

“Leicester have made massive strides over the last couple of years, obviously winning the Championship and I’m sitting here in the facilities which are fantastic as well. It’s an ambitious club and I want to be able to bring that experience and help the squad.

“It’s brilliant. The pitches are looking in pristine condition and there’s everything we need here – the gym, stuff for recovery and people looking after us.”

Signed following a spell at Scottish Women’s Premier League side Rangers, the experienced full-back is fresh from competing at this summer’s UEFA Women’s European Championships for Northern Ireland.

“I can play in a few different positions,” she added, explaining what City fans can expect from their newest Fox. “I’m a defender but I’m also very attacking-minded. I like to run quite a lot so you’ll hopefully see that.

“I was at Rangers when we first started as a full-time, professional team and we went unbeaten in our second season.

“The Euros was our first major tournament; it really made me mature as a player as well and hopefully I can bring that here.
