We'll Take Confidence To Reading, Says Scofield
- LCFC Women’s Connie Scofield shared her thoughts after a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Continental Tyres League Cup
- Schofield states how important it was for players to get experience, and minutes on the pitch
- City currently sit third, with three points, in Group B of the League Cup
It was a much-changed starting line-up on Wednesday, with the inclusion of two Academy players, but City were ultimately beaten 4-0 by a strong Liverpool side, leaving Lydia Bedford's team with their first cup defeat of the season.
Making only her second start of the campaign, Scofield shared her thoughts with LCFC TV on a tough night in Burton: “So many rotations were made tonight, and it was good to get some minutes in the tank, fitness-wise and physically, so that when we go into the league, people will have that experience, and get a bit of confidence.
It’s eleven versus eleven, if we want it more than them, we’ll get a result.

“In the first half, we were definitely off it. Lydia made some changes at half-time, and I think we were on top of them for the second half and had chances.
“They got us on the counter a couple of times, but we definitely pinned them back, so we will take confidence going into Reading, from the second-half performance especially.
“We're obviously disappointed with the two set-piece goals, it’s something we need to tighten up on. The final two goals were good strikes, there’s nothing you can do about them. They’re just good strikes at the end of the day, it’s frustrating.
“A lot of players stepped up tonight who haven’t been getting minutes in the league, so hopefully we showed the manager she can trust us, and that when she needs us, we’re ready.”
'Minutes In The Tank A Positive'
Connie Scofield speaks to LCFC TV following LCFC Women's reverse at home to Liverpool in the Continental Tyres League Cup.
Edging closer to a crucial game at Reading in the WSL, Scofield reiterated the importance of being ready when they arrive at Select Car Leasing Stadium on Sunday (2pm GMT kick-off).
“We’ve been working on different patterns, and game plans, and asking ourselves, can we follow it and step up? We need to show we’ve got that passion, fight, and desire on Sunday to get those points. We’ve got to fight, we’ve got to win those battles, and hopefully we’ll get a result.”
