Arriving from Sydney, the 23-year-old forward becomes one of the Foxes’ first signings of the January transfer window, joining part way through the 2022/23 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign.

Still on the hunt for their first points of the season, Siemsen has been recruited during a crucial point of the season, but is excited to develop her skills in England, and give her all for the team’s ambition of survival.

“It feels amazing to be here, and joining a prestigious club like Leicester,” Siemsen told LCFC TV in her first interview with the Club. “It’s an exciting time, not just for myself, but for my family. We’ve grown up watching English football so to be able to come across and play with this Club is a dream come true.

“The facilities are amazing; I’ve never seen something so professional before. Everyone has been so welcoming that I feel right at home already, I haven’t been here too long but I’m enjoying it and I can’t wait to discover more of the city.

Just being at the stadium right now feels amazing, so I’m so excited for when the stands are filled with fans. I just hope I can come out, play my brand of football to help the team achieve their goals.

“I’m super excited to get going, it’s the most competitive league in the world at the moment and having the chance to play here will only develop me as a player, both on and off the pitch. Playing against the best in the world is only going to benefit myself as a footballer.

“I’ve played in a couple of leagues around the world and each position that I’m in, I look to develop as an individual and give my all. So, I’m hoping what I’ve brought from Sweden and Sydney will help me in this league and I’ll help the team in any way I can.”

Describing herself as a free-roaming forward who likes to bring teammates into the game, the former AIK player was excited to link up with the Foxes from her initial conversations with manager Willie Kirk.

“I love to be a linking player and bring others into the game,” the 23-year-old explained. “I think of myself as a false nine, or number 10. I like scoring goals, but I also enjoy trying to create for others and getting assists. The most important thing for me is winning games and I hope I can help to do that.

“Willie [Kirk] wants me to play my style of football. He’s put a lot of belief and trust in me already and that’s one of the reasons I wanted to sign for this Club. I’ve had plenty of conversations with the manager and he has great plans, and that’s what motivated me to come here.”

Currently seven points off safety, Siemsen is aware of the difficult position that Leicester find themselves in, but is confident that the fight is not over, and that there are plenty of points still to play for, both at King Power Stadium and on the road.

“Every game is important,” she continued. “We want to be winning to avoid relegation, so any way I can help by scoring goals, or in defence, I’ll make sure to play my part in the team to be successful. Every week is a new challenge, but I know that we’re up for it and have the players to do what’s needed.

“Just being at the stadium right now feels amazing, so I’m so excited for when the stands are filled with fans. I just hope I can come out, play my brand of football to help the team achieve their goals.

“The pitch looks amazing; I’ve never seen one so well kept before! So, I’m excited to head out there wearing the Leicester colours.”
