Courtney Nevin Makes LCFC Women Loan Switch
- Courtney Nevin joins LCFC Women on loan until the end of the season
- The 20-year-old defender is an Australia international
- The full-back signs for City from Swedish side Hammarby IF
The 20-year-old defender makes the loan switch to Belvoir Drive until the end of the 2022/23 Barclays Women's Super League season following the conclusion of the 2022 Damallsvenskan campaign.
Speaking to LCFC TV, Nevin said: “It feels really good to be here. Leicester City have so much potential, and I'm excited to get stuck in and work hard for this team.
"The Swedish league is very similar to the WSL. It's very physical, very technical, and hopefully I can bring those attributes to the team and help get some more points on the table."
The full-back began her career with Western Sydney Wanderers, where she was a team-mate of fellow January recruit Remy Siemsen. She made her senior debut during the 2018/19 A-League season before a move to Melbourne Victory beckoned in 2021. Nevin later transferred to Europe to link up with Swedish outfit Hammarby IF one year later.
In a largely successful spell, the New South Wales native made 22 league appearances for Hammarby - scoring three goals along the way in league competition – helping her team record a fifth-place finish.
Nevin arrives in Leicestershire as a full Australia international having made her senior debut for the Matildas in June 2021. Bringing further international pedigree to Belvoir Drive, she has made a total of 10 appearances for her nation on the world stage during the early stages of her career.
The defender will now link up with Willie Kirk’s team ahead of City's Vitality Women’s FA Cup home clash against Reading on Sunday 29 January (4pm GMT kick-off).
