Rodgers Awaiting Update On Tielemans' Condition
- Leicester City are awaiting news on a possible injury for Youri Tielemans
- The Foxes host Blackburn Rovers in the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday (7:30pm GMT kick-off)
- Brendan Rodgers also updated on James Maddison (illness) and Jonny Evans (thigh)
The Belgium international, scorer of the goal which won the Foxes their first-ever FA Cup in 2021, picked up what appeared to be an ankle injury in Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Premier League leaders Arsenal at King Power Stadium.
City remain on home soil this Tuesday for the fifth-round visit of Jon Dahl Tomasson's Rovers, who are fourth in the Sky Bet Championship. Although Rodgers can't yet provide a specific prognosis on Tielemans' fitness, he admits it 'doesn't look good'. The Club's medical staff are expecting an update on Leicester's No.8 later on Monday afternoon.
It doesn’t look good. He did incredibly well to come back onto the pitch. We didn’t have any subs, so he showed real bravery to help the team.

"We’re waiting on the scan results," the Northern Irishman added. "That’ll come through today. It doesn’t look good. He did incredibly well to come back onto the pitch. We didn’t have any subs, so he showed real bravery to help the team. When you see it, it’s a real nasty one, so we’ll have to see the results today. He’s obviously been brilliant in my time here.
"He’s always been available in the main and he’s a top-class player. To not have his availability for a number of games is not ideal, but it provides an opportunity for other players."
James Maddison, on the other hand, was missing on Saturday through illness, and Rodgers says the England midfielder is starting to feel better. Club captain Jonny Evans (thigh) is also now back in training for the Foxes.
"[Maddison is] feeling better," Rodgers added. "We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow. If it’s not good, we’ll see for the weekend. [Evans] trained with the squad this morning. It’s getting him through this week, seeing where he’s at towards the end of the week. We’ll then get an idea of whether he needs some time with the Under-21s or not, so we’ll assess it from there."
