Eleven Foxes To Represent LCFC Women On The International Stage

LCFC Women will have 12 players involved in the April international break, with five players called up to represent England's Lionesses at the younger age groups.

- Georgia Eaton-Collins, Molly Pike, Ruby Mace and Missy Goodwin to join up with England Under-23s
- Mackenzie Smith is in the squad for England Under-19s
- Sophie Howard receives a call-up to play for Scotland
- Trio Hannah Cain, Josie Green and Carrie Jones could feature for Wales
- Courtney Nevin receives an Australian call-up
- Ashleigh Plumptre joins up with Nigerian team-mates 

Following a drama-induced Barclays Women's Super League fixture against Reading last weekend, which saw the Foxes record their third win of the season, City take a well earned rest, while numerous players are called to represent their country in the upcoming international break.

Eleven Foxes, across five different nations will be involved on national duty. Here's a guide on everyone who has received call-ups and when they could be in action...

England Under-23s - Georgia Eaton-Collins, Molly Pike, Ruby Mace, Missy Goodwin

A third of Leicester's international stars have been selected as part of the England Under-23s squad to face off against Portugal and Belgium over the next week, including Georgia Eaton-Collins, Molly Pike, Ruby Mace and Missy Goodwin

The first three all featured in the last round of matches, which saw the home nation draw 0-0 with Spain before beating Belgium 4-1, as Manchester City loanee Mace started on both occasions. Goodwin, who had a slight injury during February's fixtures, will be hoping to join her Leicestershire team-mates on the pitch this time around.

Another City player that hopes to represent England is academy graduate Mackenzie Smith, who has been called up for their round of international fixtures, which commenced with an away match against Slovenia on Wednesday evening. The Leicester youngster started in a 1-1 draw as the young Lionesses began their bid for Women's Under-19 EURO qualification. 

Scotland - Sophie Howard

Sophie Howard has scored twice for Scotland.

Central defender Sophie Howard rejoins up with her Scottish team-mates, having featured heavily in their previous results, which included a 2-0 loss to Iceland, a 2-1 win over the Philippines and a 1-1 draw with Wales. 

In their last game against the Red Dragons, City's No.15 opened the scoring with a diving header at the back post, notching a second goal for her country in the eighth minute before Ceri Holland of Liverpool levelled things up just before the break.

Carrie Jones scored her first City goal during last weekend's win over Reading.

Wales will also be heavily represented by Leicester during the upcoming break as trio Hannah Cain, Josie Green and Carrie Jones have all received call-ups, having played their part in Wales' February games, which included two draws and a solo win again the Philippines. 

The Welsh Foxes arrive to base camp on good form, Carrie Jones especially, who only days ago scored a 96th-minute winner against Reading, to lift Leicester off bottom spot in the WSL for the first time this season. 

Australia  - Courtney Nevin

Courtney Nevin has represented Australia from an Under-17s level.

Further afield, defender Courtney Nevin has been selected for Australia, having played earlier on this calendar year when she featured in her country winning the Cup of Nations, following a 3-0 win over Jamaica.

City's January signing has been a mainstay in Willie Kirk's set-up, which has seen the full-back record two assists for the Club already. The first supplying Cain's winner at Prenton Park, before setting up Sam Tierney last weekend on Filbert Way.

The final Fox involved in April's national break is Ashleigh Plumptre, who joins up with Nigeria for their single game against New Zealand on Tuesday 11 April, when the 24-year-old will face off against fellow Leicester defender Bott at 2pm. 

Always a fan favourite for the Super Falcons, the centre-half has featured for Nigeria since 2022, however was most recently an unused substitute in her country's 1-0 win over Costa Rica in late February.
