Still sat second in Group B of the Premier League Cup following a late draw at Coventry City, qualification to the knockout stages is still on the cards for the Foxes.

Happy to come away with something from their efforts, Amartey was keen to commend the effort from his team-mates to keep fighting until the end.

"We played well and they did at times as well, but you can see the pitch, it got cut up a bit and it's not what we're used too," the Under-21s defender mentioned. "But the lads dug in and fought until the end.

'We Played Well'

Bobby Amartey on the Development Squad's draw with Coventry City in the Premier League Cup on Friday.

"We went 1-0 down but then come back but then unfortunately conceded a penalty as well. But we fought until the end so we're happy to come out with a point.

"It was a bit of an uphill climb as well in the second half. We had opportunities but missed the target but our heads didn't go down so yes, happy to get something from the game."

Keeping the faith in the coaches' game plan, the centre-half explained how their style of play is constantly worked on at the training ground and was full of confidence for young wingers Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga, who have been impressing since making the step up from the Under-18s.

Amartey added: "It's what we do on the training pitch, we're working everyday and a day like this is when you need that physicality and determination to win the ball.

We fought until the end so happy to come out with a point.

"We lost the ball for the first goal by doing the right things so sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't; we're only human. But after bits like that happening, we just keep going.

"We trust the coach, and if we keep doing what he wants us to do that stuff will come from it, and not forcing it but by playing. We have the quality out wide to come up with the end product as well.

"We looked strong on the wings, both of them (Evans and Monga) have a lot of quality. They're young lads, but they're battling hard, even on this pitch so they're doing well in this age group.

"It's good to have the young lads in and shows what quality we have throughout the Academy."
