Maddison: Stay With Us
- Leicester City were beaten 1-0 by AFC Bournemouth on Saturday
- Philip Biling scored the only goal at King Power Stadium
- Captain on the day James Maddison gave his verdict to LCFC TV
A Philip Billing goal, coming after 40 minutes, proved to be the winner on Filbert Way, leaving Leicester 19th in the Premier League after 30 matches and lifting the Cherries three points clear of the bottom three.
Maddison, a match-winner for the Foxes on several occasions this term, apologised for his role in the only goal of the game, when an under-hit pass back was capitalised on by the Bournemouth man.
“It’s a tough day for us,” City’s No.10 reflected in an honest post-match interview with LCFC TV. “We didn’t try and undervalue the game. We knew it was a massive game and we said that. It was important to try and win today and we haven’t managed to do so.
“It was a costly error from myself which I take full responsibility for. It was a sloppy pass, which has cost the team, and it’s the difference at the end, which is hurting me at the minute.
“We’ve just got to lick our wounds and go again. It’s not done. It’s not pretty at the minute. I think everyone can feel it’s not the Leicester City that we want to see out there. We’re struggling a little bit in terms of the flow of the game.
“We want to be tough to play against but also be on the front foot and we’re probably not getting the balance right at the minute. I had a few shots where on another day we might score. It’s not quite happening at the minute. We’re struggling a little bit at the minute to find that consistency in the attack and be free flowing with lots of chances.”
No one wants Leicester City to be in this position. If you’re a Leicester supporter, please stick with us. We need your support in the tough times even more than when it’s good.

Feeling the backing from the supporters from the first whistle, the England international applauded the Blue Army’s efforts in attempting to drive the team on in a potentially pivotal fixture, but knows focus must now be on everyone sticking together in the fight to take points from the remaining eight games.
“At the start the atmosphere was so good and even trying to get back in the game, I felt it from the fans, and I felt them with us,” the 26-year-old, who captained the side, added. “They are entitled to have their opinion on how it went at the end. But please stick with us. It helps so much with the atmosphere. I appreciate everyone getting behind us. It means a lot to everyone.
“We’ll keep going and fight until the end. The dressing room is hurting, we’re really low. No one wants Leicester City to be in this position. If you’re a Leicester supporter, please stick with us. We need your support in the tough times even more than when it’s good.”
