Since her arrival on loan form Manchester City, Ruby Mace has been at the heart of the Foxes’ team and turnaround in performances as they closed a seven-point gap, which stood since the turn of the year.

Four months later, City remain at the foot of the WSL but now only a point behind Reading, who they beat 2-1 last time out. Therefore a win over the Reds in Saturday’s early kick-off (12:30pm) will see Leicester jump two spaces into 10th, and the midfielder is excited to get going.

“We’ve just been focusing on the next game,” Mace told the media during Thursday’s press conference at Belvoir Drive. “We’re not looking too far forward and putting all our preparation into the weeks we’ve had to prepare for the game this weekend.

Tierney & Carrie Jones Strike In Reading Win

Goals from Sam Tierney and Carrie Jones guided the Foxes to a late win against Reading on Sunday at King Power Stadium.

“Sometimes it gets a little frustrating because we work towards something all week, and you want the end result, which is the game to show what you’ve built, but we’ve had those extra weeks, so our preparation has only got better.

“Willie [Kirk] and the rest of the staff have just helped us with their positivity, giving us confidence going into the next game, which we know is one we can win.”

Arriving to Filbert Way in search of valuable game time, Mace is keen to make the most of her loan spell with Leicester, and help guide the team to WSL safety, starting when they welcome the Merseyside club to their turf on Saturday.

“I’m feeling really positive ahead of these final five games of the season,” the 19-year-old continued. “We’re just taking each game as it comes, and hopefully we’ll continue our winning form this weekend.

One hundred per cent I feel that Leicester have enough to stay in the WSL for next season, and so does everyone around the Club.

“Liverpool will be a hard game of course, but we beat them last time out, and we’ve had lots of time to prepare for it so we’re up for it, raring to go, and we want those three points.”

With five games remaining in the 2022/23 campaign, things are starting to heat up as the bid for survival intensifies, and City's No.30 believes that the impact the Leicester faithful can have must not be undervalued.

She added: “100 per cent I feel that Leicester have enough to stay in the WSL for next season, and so does everyone around the Club. We always say that the fans are our 12th player on the pitch so for them to be there this weekend supporting us will mean everything to achieving our goal.”
