Signing for the Club in January of 2022, forward Goodwin has committed the next two years of her career to the Foxes, labelling it as the best place for her to continue her development.
“It’s really exciting to re-sign with the Club,” Goodwin told LCFC.com in an interview. “I’m looking forward to building on what we created over the second half of last season, and the project is something I want to be a part of. My time at Leicester so far has been really key to my development, and signing a new deal was a no-brainer as I can continue to build myself as a player.”
The 2022/23 campaign saw the striker net her first WSL goal, in a record-breaking 4-0 win against Liverpool at King Power Stadium back in April of this year.
The young Lioness signs on for another two years with the Foxes.
Looking ahead to next season, the 20-year-old is hoping to increase her game time and find the net on a more regular basis, as City look to push on from last year’s 10th-placed finish.
“Scoring my first goal last season was a special moment,” Goodwin stated. “I think it was a long time coming. I hope I can continue to improve in that department next season and help the team. As a Club, we want to climb higher in the table. We don’t want to be in the same position that we were last season, so we’ll be working towards improving on that.
“Last season was a whirlwind of emotions and mentally it was hard, but as a group we showed that we’re resilient, and can do what’s needed.”
Goodwin scored her first WSL goal in last season's home win over Liverpool.
Aiming to become a more regular name on the teamsheet, the striker commends the efforts of the Club in the women’s game, and is excited to get going next season, with her new deal wrapped up at the start of the summer break.
She added: “The facilities here (at Belvoir Drive) are excellent and the backing of the Club has been brilliant and allows us to continue to stay training here and keep playing at King Power Stadium, and that really helps us with our home games, being able to have the fans cheering us on and hopefully we’ll have more there next season.
“Playing in the WSL is very challenging – it’s the best league in the world for women’s football, so it’s important for me to be able to play in such a good division, and facing the best will only help me to improve.”
