An Enjoyable Runout For Thomas
- Leicester City defeated Port FC 1-0 in a friendly on Wednesday afternoon
- Wilfred Ndidi’s scored the only goal at Alpine Football Camp Training
- Luke Thomas spoke after the pre-season game against the Thailand outfit
- The full-back was happy to get some competitive minutes in his legs
The Foxes emerged as 1-0 winners in the friendly with the Bangkok-based side at Alpine Football Camp Training - Wilfred Ndidi’s early goal separating the sides.
With temperatures hitting 34 degrees in the Thai capital, it was a tough afternoon’s work for Enzo Maresca’s side, as Thomas explained in his post-match assessment of the contest.
Ndidi Scores In Pre-Season Success
A look at the Wilfred Ndidi strike which settled Leicester City's contest with Port FC.
“It was tough,” the 22-year-old revealed. “It was a hot one, but I really enjoyed it, to be honest. I can’t even explain it (the heat), I was blowing after about 10 minutes.
“But it’s a good exercise fitness-wise for all the lads to get out here in the heat and to get the legs going it’s good.
“Considering it was a pre-season game, it was quite a feisty one, I'd say. They were obviously up for it. To be able to play against us is probably a dream for them. But they weren't bad themselves.”
Hopefully we'll all be up to the fitness we want to be and the level we want to be for the first game and show the fans what we're made of.
Luke Thomas
The Academy graduate is working his way back up to full fitness, with just over a week of vital preparation to come in order to be in the best shape possible for the new campaign.
The England youth international continued: “That was my first game, so to get back into things and playing games, I suppose that's what we want to do to get fit and ready for the season. It was a good game and it wasn't very easy at all.
“We've got 10 days now to the first game so we need to be getting up to the fitness that we can and we want to be at, which I think the majority of the squad probably are.
“It's probably just myself, really, that's not had too much, but I'll get that going over the next few days and hopefully we'll all be up to the fitness we want to be and the level we want to be for the first game and show the fans what we're made of.”
Thomas: A Worthy Exercise
Defender Luke Thomas' reaction to Leicester City's friendly with Thai outfit Port FC in Bangkok.
Facing Liverpool in Singapore on Sunday, the Syston-born defender expects another intense contest against the Reds, which will assist in enabling City to hit their stride at the right time, he believes.
Thomas added: “Obviously, we were disappointed to have the game against Spurs called off because that would have been a great test for us to see where we're at. But we've still got one game to go, and it's Liverpool, so we know what they can do, and we know how dangerous they are.
“Hopefully we can show our qualities and get a good result. We know it's going to be a challenge. We've played Liverpool many times and know the players they have.
“We're probably not going to have the ball as much as we did today, but we've been working a lot in pre-season on the ball, and we feel like we've got a lot better, recently. So hopefully we can show that and get a lot of the ball at the same time.”
