We Learnt A Lot, Says Maresca
- Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City defeated Huddersfield Town on Saturday
- Stephy Mavididi scored the goal at John Smith’s Stadium in a 1-0 win
- Maresca believes it was another tough test of City’s credentials
- The Foxes sit second in the Sky Bet Championship following the victory
Stephy Mavididi’s 73rd-minute goal proved to be the difference between the two sides, sending the travelling Foxes support home happy after a second successive Sky Bet Championship victory.
Struggling to find the breakthrough for the majority of the contest, the Italian praised his side’s perseverance to eventually open Huddersfield up and get the goal he felt they had ultimately merited.
Mavididi Wins It Late At Huddersfield
Enjoy the action from John Smith's Stadium as the Foxes make it three wins from three at the start of the season.
“It is a performance where we can learn many things,” City’s Manager revealed after full-time in West Yorkshire. “I expected exactly this kind of game because I know how difficult it is to play against a team who defend so well. They were aggressive.
“They were almost man to man so it is difficult to find solutions and space. Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] was man to man, Dennis [Praet] was man to man, Ricardo [Pereira] was man to man, so it’s not easy. It’s not easy to play 90 minutes with the opponent next to you.
“But at the end we continued with our focus and the way we wanted to play, and I think it’s quite deserved. Between the first half and the second half we created many clear chances, one vs. one with the ‘keeper, so in the end, a good win.
Last week was completely different kind of game. They were quite good being patient and in the end we found a solution.

“It’s about not getting frustrated, continuing and finding many passes until you can find the right space and the right solution, because every game is different. Last week was completely different kind of game. They were quite good being patient and in the end we found a solution.”
Having seen off Coventry City on the opening day and then Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup in midweek, a period of recovery will now take place before returning to LCFC Training Ground for preparations ahead of meeting Cardiff City next weekend.
The 43-year-old added: “Now we have two days off after the pre-season and three games in the first week. They deserve their days off and then we start on Tuesday and we see how we will prepare for the next game.”
