A fifth straight league win was achieved on Wednesday evening when Enzo Maresca’s men saw off third-place Preston North End 3-0 to move back to the top of the standings 10 games in.

Scoring seven and conceding just once over the course of the previous two fixtures, momentum is certainly with City at this stage, creating a buoyant mood within the squad, as the Ghanian explained.

City Return To The Top With Preston Win

Enjoy the key moments from Leicester City's 3-0 success over Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship.

“Getting those three points was a great feeling and I’m so happy, all the team were so happy,” he reflected. “It felt so good in the stadium in front of our fans. I’m still feeling proud.

“It was against a good team and where they are in the league table is amazing, so to beat this kind of team 3-0, it was a big game, but it was not an easy game. Everyone knew the team was good and everyone was ready.”

The games continue to come thick and fast and Stoke City provide the next test of the Foxes’ credentials, welcoming the Potters to King Power Stadium on Saturday for a 3pm kick-off. That clash with Stoke is one part of a Filbert Way double-header this weekend, with LCFC Women also hosting Everton on Sunday (3pm kick-off).

Ahead of that match-up, the Sporting Lisbon loanee provided insight into the mindset that the Foxes have adopted from Maresca and his staff.

I feel fresh. I think everyone in the team is ready to go again on Saturday. It’s not a big problem for us.

The 19-year-old continued: “After the game, he said, as always, we need to push and do everything. He said he was so proud of us and that the journey still continues. We need to keep focused and rest and recover for the upcoming game.

“It’s a game we are really ready for, it’s big. The Manager always tells us that every game we are playing, we need to go all in for the team. There’s not an easy game in the Championship everywhere you go, but we know with the team we have, we are winning.

“Everyone is still good and working. Right now, I feel so good. After the recovery, I feel like I could play again. I feel fresh. I think everyone in the team is ready to go again on Saturday. It’s not a big problem for us.”

Wout Faes vs. Blackburn Rovers

Wout Faes' header to give Leicester City the lead in the win over Blackburn Rovers.

Having started the last three league fixtures, assisting Wout Faes’ headed goal during the win at Blackburn Rovers last Sunday, it has been a strong opening to the winger’s Leicester career. Competition for places, meanwhile, is driving up standards as City go in search of further victories.

Fatawu analysed: “It’s a good start for me and great to have that, but there’s so many matches to come and we still have a journey to go. This is just the beginning. I’m hoping to give more to help the team get to where we all want to be.

“With the squad we have, everyone is good. Any time they put you in, you need to play well, so you can get another opportunity. Everyone gives everything because we know any player in the squad is good. If you’re in, it’s a chance to prove yourself.”
