Narrow Arsenal Defeat For City's Under-18s

Following the 3-3 draw with Aston Villa Under-18s last time out, the young Foxes aimed to head into the international break on a high but were defeated 2-1 at Arsenal Training Centre in Shenley. 

Less than a quarter of the hour into the game, Leicester won a penalty after Tommy Neale's shot was handled by William Lannin-Sweet. Reece Evans sent the resulting spot-kick wide, however. 

The side coached by Adam Barradell were given an advantage once Chido Obi received a red card early in the second half and seized the initiative courtesy of Kaleb Dyke's 64th-minute strike.

A superb Michal Rosiak free-kick, sending the ball over the wall and past Harry French, levelled the scores at 1-1 with just over 10 to play.

Omari Benjamin was then sent through on goal and kept his cool to find the bottom corner and see the Gunners go ahead for the first time in the contest, with just six minutes to play.

Benjamin received a second yellow card late on and saw the hosts down to nine men, but they held on to claim victory in the capital.

Leicester are now ninth in U18 Premier League South, with Southampton up next at LCFC Training Ground on Saturday 28 September (1pm kick-off).

Before then, attention turns to the U18 Premier League Cup, with Stoke City hosting the Foxes on Saturday 21 October (11am kick-off).
