‘Friday’s Game Will Have A Good Atmosphere’ – The Talk On The Robins
- Leicester City take on Bristol City on Friday afternoon
- The two sides meet at Ashton Gate for a 12:30pm kick-off
- City are looking to regain top spot in the Sky Bet Championship
- James Piercy from the Bristol Post has discussed the fixture
The Foxes return to league action this Friday following the international break when they make the trip to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City.
Piercy caught up with LCFC.com to share an insight into the Bristol club, and opened with the mood in camp, insisting there is a lot of frustration from the supporters’ camp.
“The mood in camp isn’t good to put it lightly,” the reporter opened with. “There’s a lot of anxiety, a lot of anguish.
Bristol City
Bristol's last win came at home against Swansea City.
“Within the team, while they’re projecting that they’re not a million miles away from getting out of this slump, I do think there’s a lack of confidence.
“That’s because of the nature of the defeats. No disrespect to the teams, but QPR and Cardiff City are games we’d expect to win, so when we don’t win, the pressure and disappointment is intensified.
“It’s a little bit tense at the minute, with a lot of stuff spilling over from the decision to sack Nigel [Pearson] early in the season, but I still think the game on Friday is going to be a good atmosphere.”
Bristol City head into the game with 13 wins from 38 played, only seeing victory once in the previous five outings, coming in their last home fixture against Swansea City.
The Bristol Post journalist went on to talk about the style of play expected from the Robins this week and stated that they perform better against teams who hold most of the ball.
“Bristol’s record against teams that hold more than 50 per cent of the possession is much better,” Piercy continued. “I think that’ll lead to a good match-up with Leicester.
“I think there’s a confidence in terms of their defensive capabilities, and they sit in their shape very well, squeezing the middle, and don’t leave many gaps.
“We frustrate the opposition and make them play out of their comfort zone a little bit, but the issues have been in terms of confidence. They almost need to play with a little bit more arrogance.
“When we get to the final third, it’s very tentative and a little bit too organised with how they’re playing. The need to bring more flexibility and confidence in those areas.”
