Dewsbury-Hall: Award Wins Mean An Awful Lot
- Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall won two prizes at the End of Season Awards
- The Academy graduate took home Men's Player and Players' Player of the Season
- He spoke of the pride he feels to scoop two of the biggest prizes of the night
After driving City to the Sky Bet Championship title and an instant Premier League return with 12 goals and 14 assists, the Academy graduate was selected by both his team-mates the supporters to win major awards.
The 25-year-old, who grew up in Shepshed, was delighted to be recognised with the two prizes, but says that getting the Club back in the top flight was his no.1 priority in 2023/24.
“I couldn’t really have asked for much more,” he said. “I set myself goals at the start of the season, the main one being to win the Championship. I’m so, so happy that I’ve managed to have a positive impact on the season and come away with a bit of silverware. It’s the best feeling in the world because you never know when you can get stuff like that.
“[The awards] mean an awful lot. To be recognised by the players and the fans – the people that are with you every day and the people that watch every game – you can’t really ask for much more as a player.

“It makes me bursting with pride when I sit down and think about that. It shows you that your hard work and determination is appreciated and that’s all you can ever ask for as a footballer. The fact that I’ve got that, I’m so, so proud.”
Picking out his season highlights, KDH pointed to three games in particular, also describing the 'positive energy' which has helped Enzo Maresca's men get over the line.
“There’s been so many. Setting the tone against Coventry was really, really good. West Brom away… as recently as Southampton at home. Massive, massive wins at important times of the season.
“I’ll be honest, it’s all been such an enjoyable ride. It’s been a wave of positive energy, which has been so refreshing, compared to us struggling last year.
“I feel so, so happy and I’m just really exited for the future now because, as I say, there’s a lot of stuff that could happen. Hopefully, Leicester are back. Well we’re back in the Premier League, so we’ll see what happens.”
While Abdul Fatawu took home the Men's Young Player of the Season award, James Justin's strike against Cardiff City in December was the winner of the Men's Goal of the Season prize - and Dewsbury-Hall has eyes on that accolade in future.
“The gaffer he told me he wants me in the box to score more goals, but I think I might need to start staying outside the box to get a couple like JJ’s!” he joked “He was a deserved winner, but I’m going to do a few more shooting drills after training to try and put myself in the mix for next season.”
