LCFC Women Sign Jamaica International Chantelle Swaby

- Chantelle Swaby signs for LCFC Women on a permanent contract 
- Defender joins the Foxes following her departure from FC Fleury 91
- The 25-year-old signs a two-year contract at King Power Stadium

The 25-year-old joins the Foxes on a permanent basis following her departure from FC Fleury 91 in France’s Première Ligue.

Adding to a core of established international players now operating out of Belvoir Drive, the Jamaica international arrives with 38 caps for her nation having competed in both the World Cup and CONCACAF championships since her debut 2018.

Speaking to LCFC.com. Swaby said: “It feels great to have signed for Leicester City. I know this will be a really good experience and a great challenge for me and I’m really excited.

“Playing as the home team at King Power Stadium will be a whole different experience and I’m really looking forward to getting started with my team-mates and meet the supporters.”

Born in Connecticut, USA, Swaby's footballing education began in 2016 with Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Rutgers University, while simultaneously studying for a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management.

Swaby's first foray into the professional game came in March 2020 when the centre-back was drafted as a round four selection for National Women's Soccer League outfit Sky Blue FC.

A one-year stint with Rangers in the Scottish Women's Premier League followed before she joined French top-flight outfit FC Fleury 91. She would ultimately go on to make 33 appearances for Fleury in the Première Ligue, helping the club to a fourth placed finish.

Bringing invaluable experience to an already talented squad, Swaby further bolsters the defensive unit at Belvoir Drive ahead of the Club’s fourth consecutive season in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Swaby will now look forward to linking up with her new team-mates when the team return to Leicestershire for pre-season preparations ahead of the new season.
