‘Keep Building’ – Mavididi’s Message
- Leicester City drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League encounter
- Stephy Mavididi took away many positives from how the Foxes performed at Selhurst Park
- The winger scored his maiden top flight goal on his first Premier League start under Steve Cooper
Although the Foxes were ultimately denied a maiden Premier League victory of the campaign courtesy of Jean-Philippe Mateta’s injury-time penalty, there were many encouraging signs from the overall team display at Selhurst Park.
With progression shown in terms of the patterns of play and an improved confidence within the group, there is plenty to build on, according to Mavididi, who is looking to quickly put to bed the frustration of not seeing the game out, as another important fixture against Everton looms on the horizon this weekend.
Stephy Mavididi vs. Crystal Palace
Stephy Mavididi registered his first Premier League goal during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
“It's the best league in the world and it's bittersweet from going 2-0 up to back to 2-2,” the attacker explained. “Obviously, we're disappointed but I think everyone's got their head around it and we've just got to accept it.
“We can only look back and take the positives. We played some good stuff and there are a lot of positives we can take, as a collective and on a personal note. I feel like we put in a good performance.
“We've just got to regroup now, get back to work, keep building and then go again this week. We've been putting in the work every day, the training at the training ground, and on days like today it might not come off for you.”
'A Lot Of Positives To Take'
Hear from Stephy Mavididi after scoring in Leicester City's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 25-year-old’s maiden Premier League start brought a first Premier League goal, slamming home Wilfred Ndidi’s clever knock back early in the second half. Having shown what he can do in south London, the winger is keen for more opportunities to shine in the top flight, in order to help City achieve their objectives.
Describing his goal, Mavididi said: “It was a good pass, a bit of a ricochet and then Wilf managed to fake-shot pass it to me, and I found the back of the net, so I'm really pleased with that.
“For me it was a nice feeling, that moment, something I've been working towards for a long time and he (Steve Cooper) blessed me with my first start and hopefully I put out a good performance, so we'll see for the coming games.”
