Leicester City hosted a Football Black List East Midlands event at King Power Stadium last week, which starred LCFC Women defender Chantelle Swaby.

- Chantelle Swaby and Wes Morgan were both in attendance
- The event was dedicated to Gerry Burke and Neville Hamilton

The 26-year-old Jamaica international was a panellist at the celebration of Black excellence, which fell within Black History Month, and was an opportunity to highlight and amplify Black talent in football.

Supported by The FA, the event saw guests come together on Filbert Way to recognise and commemorate Black excellence from individuals who have contributed to the game in the region.

The Club’s Premier League winning captain Wes Morgan was in attendance on the night as he shared his footballing journey and recalled some of his finest memories, while Lord Herman Ouseley, Chair of Kick it Out for 25 years, was honoured at the event.

Grassroots and Community Heroes from the East Midlands were also recognised for how they have positively impacted the game in the area, with a panel of senior representatives from the Black community selecting the awardees.

The evening was dedicated to the memory of Highfield Rangers’ former Chairperson Gerry Burke, who died from cancer in 2023, and former Leicester City player, Neville Hamilton, who sadly passed away in 2009.
