Sunday afternoon saw the Foxes confirm their first Barclays Women's Super League win of 2024/25 when Yuka Momiki's early goal was enough to see victory over the Toffees.

Although pleased overall, Miquel saw parts of the performance that can still be worked on, as they head into a two-week break for international football.

"We're happy to have this first three points," the Manager announced. "The performance isn't quite what we want yet, so there are parts to work on, but the overall performance with the mentality to defend was good.

"If you can get both the performance and result, that would be good, but if you can have only one, then you'd want the win. We need to continue working because there's still a lot to improve. But I think that the players' mentality and the willingness to defend everything together is very important.

"Towards the end we were suffering and sitting too low. We lacked energy so we would like to look at that. We were giving Everton a lot of chances in the last 10 minutes that we could avoid by being better organised and higher.

"We have to look back and see why this is happening and work towards changing it."

'Important To Win'

LCFC Women Manager Amandine Miquel reacts to a first win of the season over Everton on Sunday afternoon.

A second consecutive clean sheet of the season, keeping the door shut in a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa last time out, was well received by the Manager, but she believes the best is yet to come out of her City squad.

Miquel added: "On paper we are seeing the progress, but on the pitch, the content isn't there quite yet. As I said, the mentality is there and the mindset to defend to the last second.

"We just need to improve how we can defend because I think we can do even better, when we're tiring. But on paper, two clean sheets is ideal.

"I think it was important to get the first win. It was the fifth game but before the break which is ideal also. We will work with the players left, which isn't many, but plan what we need to do so that we don't lose time and focus on what could've been improved today."
