Something To Build On, Says Miquel

Amandine Miquel believes that LCFC Women must build on the positives displayed in their 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

- Amandine Miquel believes there were good signs from the performance

Leicester fell to their third Barclays Women's Super League defeat when Nikita Parris scored the only goal at Broadfield Stadium, which was City's first conceded goal in three outings.

Struggling to find a way through the Brighton backline, Miquel focused on the defensive aspect and believes there are positives to take against a side who have won four of their first six.

"I think overall we did what we could with what we have right now," the Manager admitted. "Besides the goal and a few occasions, we don't think they were too dangerous and we defended well. What we're lacking now is the offensive part.

City fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat in Crawley.

"I'm just happy that we were able physically to finish like that. That's an important sign for the games to come. Technically we are strong enough and able to be patient because when we defended it was a lot of running.

"But we still had the energy to finish with that offensive consistency so even though there was no draw, the signs were good."

The biggest worry at the moment is the condition of midfielder Sam Tierney, who was forced off in the second half with an injury. When asked about the No.3's current situation, she couldn't say much as the Club wait to have a scan.

"We prefer to wait for a scan and x-ray to be sure, but right now she's in pain and we don't know much more," the 40-year-old stated.

Moving on to talk about the next WSL fixture, Miquel is hoping to keep the defensive stability shown in recent games when they travel to the Chigwell Construction Stadium to face West Ham United on Sunday (2pm GMT kick-off).

The Manager added: "I think the question is what can we expect from us. From them, I'm not sure, but from us, we'll continue building like we are and try to be as strong as we can defensively. But we want to be more offensive earlier.

"Brighton are a team that have scored 10 goals already so conceding only one today and not giving them a lot of clear occasions is something positive to build on. Right now, we have good options in defence so we want to keep that strong."
