The LCFC Women Manager – who took charge of the Foxes in July – brought her expert insights to the session at St Margaret’s Pastures Sports Centre, which included technical drills and tactical tips as she shared her passion for the game.

The Wildecats are one of the country’s leading LGBTQ+ football clubs and have been at the forefront of inclusive sport since 1996 by working to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone, both on and off the field.

They provide opportunities for players to join a diverse community to experience the thrill of competitive games, along with the camaraderie of a supportive social circle or the casual fun of weekly kickabouts.

And for Miquel, whose team face Manchester United in a Women’s Super League clash at King Power Stadium on Sunday (3pm GMT kick-off), she believes the session highlighted a continued drive from Leicester City to promote an environment where all fans and players can thrive and be themselves.

The Leicester Wildecats were joined by Amandine Miquel this week.

She said: “Football is for everyone, and the Wildecats have set an inspiring example in Leicester by creating a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ players to enjoy the game.

“I really enjoyed leading the session and was honoured to support such an incredible team and to stand alongside them in spreading the message that football welcomes everyone, everywhere.”

The game against the Red Devils on Filbert Way on Sunday is LCFC Women’s dedicated Rainbow Laces fixture, with the Stonewall campaign encouraging clubs, players and fans to show their backing for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport, with more than a million people lacing up in support of the initiative over the past decade.

As proud Rainbow Laces supporters, Leicester City is committed to raising awareness and ensuring that football at all levels remains a place where everyone feels accepted and supported.

Leicester Wildecats player Wayne Carter, said: “To have Amandine lead our training session was a brilliant experience and a huge boost for the team.

“The Wildecats have gone from strength to strength over recent years. The club was founded by Gareth Miller, who is still an inspiration to us all today, and we’ve got about 500 to 600 members, possibly more.

“He started the club with a vision for people to come and play football with no risk of discrimination. This club gives them that outlet.

“The support received from Leicester City sends a strong message that LGBTQ+ inclusion in football matters, and it inspires us to continue championing our mission across Leicester and beyond.”
