Shakespeare: Be Tactically Aware

- Craig Shakespeare reveals that he would like Leicester City to play with flair when Liverpool visit King Power Stadium on Monday

- Shakespeare admits it will be a tough test for his side but backed them to put their current form behind them and go on a winning run

Craig Shakespeare has provided an insight into his tactical approach to the game ahead of his first match as Leicester City caretaker manager against  (8pm kick-off). 

The 53-year-old has been preparing the team for the visit of Jürgen Klopp’s men to King Power Stadium over the past weekend and says he has complete confidence in their ability to kick-start a succession of positive results to climb the Premier League table in earnest. 

“I like my teams to play with flair but I like clean sheets as well,” he told the world’s media on Friday afternoon. “We are playing against a very good team on Monday night so we have to be tactically aware. I like my teams go about their jobs in the right way. 

“I am usually quite a calm person and hopefully that will come across to the players but if I need to motivate and get them going then I’m quite capable of that as well.” 

The Foxes have gone without a Premier League victory in 2017 but Shakespeare says the players must use that frustration to their own benefit and produce a spirited display against the Reds this week. 

Shakespeare admits his players are “frustrated” with that sequence of results but insists his focus is purely on making sure they are prepared for everything Liverpool have to throw at them on Filbert Way. 

He continued: “They are frustrated and, from speaking to them on a regular basis, they are very frustrated with how things have gone this season. There is enough talent in that dressing room for us to go on a winning run.   

“A clean sheet would help of course in terms of how we go about it. The work will be done on the training field in the next few days and we’ll get them prepared for Monday night.”
