Morgan Aiming To Maintain UCL Momentum
- The Foxes conclude their Group G campaign against FC Porto at the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday evening
- City have already qualified for the last-16 and are yet to be beaten in the Champions League this term
Wes Morgan hopes Leicester City can enjoy their final UEFA Champions League Group G fixture, but wants them to continue their fine form in Europe.
A trip to the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday 7 December sees the Foxes conclude their group campaign against FC Porto.
For the City skipper, guaranteeing a spot in the last-16 with a game to play is a brilliant achievement for his side, not least during their debut campaign in the Champions League.
“We want to go there and still put in a good performance to try and get a good result, but at the same time we haven’t got the pressure on us of needing to get a win,” Morgan told LCFC TV.
“That’s a nice position to be in, so we can go out there and enjoy the game.
“It is good to say that we’ve qualified with a game to spare – we’d have no doubt taken that at the beginning of our campaign, so it’s fantastic to be in that position and hopefully we can continue the good work.
“Remaining unbeaten will be a big boost and I’m sure teams will look at us as a big threat, so we definitely want to pick up a result. We’ll try our best to do that.”
Claudio Ranieri’s men dispatched the Portuguese outfit 1-0 on Filbert Way back in September thanks to Islam Slimani’s 26th-minute header.
Morgan added: “It wasn’t an easy game and it just comes down to the fine margins.
“Sometimes a moment of brilliance can win you the game and thankfully we got that vital goal to get the result.”
